Commies in Bed With Illegals?

Dan at Riehl World View brings up a good point, where has the MSM been in promoting all these pro-immigrant protests?

Probably backing off after they noticed some communist groups offering their support to the immigrants/illegals. Donkey Cons has some history on these groups and a little about how they feel on this whole illegal immigration issue. Interesting…

Ben Domenech Resigns

Ben Domenech has had a rough few days. He started off taking shit for his new Red America blog over at WaPo. Then he’s called a bigot for some blog posts he made a while back at Red State.

Now, he’s been forced to resign from his position at WaPo due to plagiarism charges (also posted at official WaPo Blog). It was probably a good idea for him to step down. Lots of people from both sides wanted to see him go.

Jim Brady posted at Red America announcing Ben’s resignation. Jim is the executive editor at washingtonpost.com. Below are conservative bloggers with some rather interesting things to say about Domenech:
Riehl World View
The Political Pit Bull
Outside The Beltway
Michelle Malkin
Don Surber
Right Wing Nut House
Iowa Voice

All-in-all, this sucks. Had there not been such a huge initial furor over Ben and WaPo, Red America would still be around. I understand peoples anger about Ben though. He did plagiarize, losing Red America are the consequences of his actions. Too bad.

Conservative Personality

I don’t really think I’ve got a conservative personality, my ideas are more conservative though. I’ve actually got an extremely liberal personality, I think. Although, I am whiny sometimes, and I wouldn’t say “I’m not crazy.” According to a recent study, I probably do have a conservative personality. Here’s a bit from the new Red America blog:

Apparently, this violent testosterone-fueled psychological imperitive – not a coherent and just strategy for defending America in response to the first major attack on our soil since Pearl Harbor – is the real reason for our war in Iraq. Oh, and Condi Rice? Don’t worry, women can have manly envy, too. Clearly, Maggie Thatcher did.

I guess I wasn’t aware there were many effective warfare strageties that don’t involve violence. I think I’m gonna enjoy reading Red America, a lot. Hopefully it’ll stay around for a while, I like Ben’s sense of humor, and his cool last name “Domenech.”

And while we’re at it, MacStansbury is loving our “new media”. He’s got a post that’s “Not a ‘sop to the paper’s right-wing critics’.” The “paper” being WaPo, of course.

Washington Post Gets Red

The ever-liberal Washington Post is starting up a new blog. The blog is named Red America and is being run by Ben Domenech, co-founder of RedState.

The launch of this new blog has apparently upset some liberals. Not sure why, I thought these types were all about “letting people choose” and providing un-biased information. I guess that only applies to media outlets they deem to be “conservative”.

NewsBusters has a nice post concerning the liberal whining. Others blogging on this topic include Protein Wisdom, Donklephant, Decicion ’08, and Wizbang.

I, for one, welcome our new WaPo blog overlords. Oh, and if you want some more info about Ben and his work, check out the first post on Red America.

UPDATE 7:10PM CST:
I found this post at MyDD to be very amusing. Apparently the right-wing blogosphere has been destroyed.

Glenn Reynolds is a columnist for MSNBC. Andrew Sullivan is a columnist for Time. Michelle Malkin is a frequently published columnist in a number of offline outlets. And now, RedState co-founder Ben Domenech has a regular column in the Washington Post.

I might be wrong, but doesn’t that help show how successful the conservative blogosphere has been? I’m pretty sure it does…crazy hippies. Now, I’m a member of the “conservative blogosphere”, and I’ve seen nothing but growth since my arrival. I’m not a big enough creature to matter though, so I guess it sucks to be me? I dunno, dun care.

What is Open Source Media?

Open Source Media is a blog advertising project whose name has been the subject of debate lately. Basically, seven people who do radio shows 4 times a week also use the name “Open Source Media.” The radio guys make extensive use of bloggers as their “in-house” experts:

A joint production of Open Source Media Inc. and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Open Source is presented by WGBH Radio Boston and distributed by Public Radio International (PRI).

What this means is that we are seven people in a rented office with, incidentally, a rather bold mouse who does not yet have a name. We make a radio show four times a week that uses bloggers as local and topical experts; this show is distributed to public radio stations by Public Radio International, and to truckers and early adopters by XM satellite radio.

Now, the blog ad project formerly called Pajamas Media is using the name “Open Source Media.” The blog ad project has a note on their website stating that the radio guys are going to allow the new OSM use of the opensourcemedia.net domain. Using “Open Source Media” as a company name seems like a stupid idea, it’s too general. It’d be like “FoxNews” changing it’s name to “TheNews.” When I hear “open source media”, I think of news providers who are more local and not so mainstream. But, whatever. To each their own. Oh, and I’ve made quite a few changes to this post. I think my original wording was causing some confusion. No, there was absolutely NO confusion on this end. 🙂

Oh, and I should note, Allah was MIA at the Open Source Media launch party.
